POOL HEAT RETENTION BLANKET

liquid solar blanket for pools
Some pools are of such an irregular shape, or are horizon pools that have a beach-style edge, or have bridge pillars in them, that there is no way that they can ever use a conventional heat retention cover. The answer to that problem was solved in Canada in the early 1990s when the TROPICAL FISH liquid solar blanket was invented. It came on the market in the US and Canada in 1994 and every company connected with swimming pool building, maintenance or heating in North America has been selling the product since then. During the latter 1990s TROPICAL FISH came into regular use in Europe and ACAIR are the distributors of it for the Costa del Sol and southern Spain.

It comes in a brightly-coloured sachet shaped like a fish which is cut open and thrown into the bottom of the pool. The chemical compound it contains slowly leaks out to rise to the pool surface where the molecules cling together to form an invisible skin that acts as a heat retention cover. When dissolved in the thousands of litres of pool water it is environmentally safe and totally harmless. The FFADA (Federal Food & Drug Agency) and other consumer protection organisations in the US and Canada would have acted long ago if the product represented any danger. In addition to being invisible it is also odourless and tasteless so it is not necessary to shower after coming out of the pool. Also, pets drinking the pool water won’t be affected in any way.

One fish sachet will act as a heat retention cover for a month in pools up to 35 square metres surface area: larger pools require 2 or more fish every month depending on their size. TROPICAL FISH works most effectively if the pool water temperature is 21ºC or above so pool owners are recommended to start using it towards the end of the summer season so that they can maintain a comfortable swimming temperature all winter long.
